Bedonwell pupil Jack takes on World Cubing Association competition

A huge congratulations to Year 6 pupil Jack from Bedonwell Nursery, Infant and Junior School, who put his speed, concentration and problem-solving skills to the test at an official World Cubing Association competition in Stevenage on 12–13 September.

Jack took on an impressive six different cubing events across the weekend, demonstrating incredible focus and determination across a range of challenging puzzles.

His achievements included completing the classic 3x3x3 Cube in a personal best of just 17.93 seconds, which saw him progress to the second round. He also recorded an impressive average of 8.33 seconds on the 2x2x2 Cube, with a best single solve of 7.92 seconds.

Jack didn't stop there! He challenged himself with the larger 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 cubes, as well as the complex 12-sided Megaminx and pyramid-shaped Pyraminx, achieving some fantastic times throughout the competition.

But Jack's contribution went beyond his own performances. He also volunteered as a judge, helping to time and verify other competitors solves and playing his part in ensuring the event ran smoothly.

Throughout the weekend, Jack embraced the friendly cubing community, speaking with fellow competitors, exchanging techniques and picking up new tips to help improve his future solves.

We are incredibly proud of Jack for representing Bedonwell with such enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship.
