SGN Volunteers Transform Outdoor Spaces at BTA Midfield
On Tuesday 29th July 2025, BTA Midfield was alive with energy and teamwork as a group of dedicated volunteers from Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) joined staff for a Community Action Programme (CAP) Day.
SGN generously provided a skilled volunteer workforce, while BTA Midfield supplied materials and refreshments. Together, they achieved lasting improvements that will benefit pupils for years to come.
The event was coordinated by Natalie Shaw, BTA Midfield’s Forest School Lead, alongside her husband Paul, an SGN employee. In preparation, the pair worked hard to relocate the Forest School area and install new fencing, laying strong foundations for future tree planting this autumn.
On the day itself, the SGN team enthusiastically completed a range of projects, including:
- Painting the exterior of the school building
- Repairing and weaving willow arches
- Planting trees in the Forest School area
- Cutting back brambles and clearing grounds
- Refreshing the learning garden fencing with a new coat of paint
We are deeply grateful to the SGN volunteers Paul G, Richard, Kirsty, Adam, Harvey, Gloria, Olayinka, Julie, Rachel, Trevor, Peter, Lee, Gemma, Claire, and Paul S whose efforts made a visible difference to the school environment.
Their contribution has enhanced BTA Midfields outdoor learning spaces, supporting their vision to provide engaging, inspiring opportunities for all pupils. We look forward to building on this positive relationship with SGN as we continue to strengthen links between BTA Midfield and the wider community.
