London South East Academies Trust (LSEAT) has welcomed Bedonwell Nursery & Infant School, Bedonwell Junior School, and Barrington Primary School to its successful network of schools.
Previously part of Ignis Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), the three Bexley schools have joined London South East Academies Trust to secure their financial future and to ensure they can continue to offer an outstanding educational experience for all pupils.
This transfer follows extensive consultations with the school communities, including parents, staff, and governors. With its shared values and commitment to supporting every child, London South East Academies Trust was identified by Ignis as its preferred Trust, with the move being approved by the Local Authority and the Department of Education.
With the addition of the three new schools, London South East Academies Trust now comprises 13 successful academies, including mainstream primaries and alterative and specialist provision across Bromley, Bexley, Surrey, and Lambeth. The Trust’s expertise in school improvement has secured Good or better Ofsted ratings for all its academies (with two awaiting their first inspection since being taken on by the Trust)
CEO of London South East Academies Trust, Dr. Sam Parrett CBE, says:
“We are delighted to welcome Bedonwell Nursery & Infant School, Bedonwell Junior School, and Barrington Primary School into our Trust. Throughout the consultation process, it was clear that these schools have strong, supportive communities that are committed to the success and wellbeing of their pupils.
“At London South East Academies Trust, we value the unique identity of each of our schools, ensuring our leaders have the support and resources needed to thrive. For the Bedonwell schools and Barrington, this partnership will provide the stability and growth opportunities needed to continue delivering the high-quality education they are known for.
“We look forward to working with the school leaders, parents, and carers to ensure that all pupils benefit from the exciting opportunities that come with being part of our successful and expanding Trust.”
Headteachers from the newly joined schools, along with their respective Chairs of Governors, have led the transfer process with a focus on securing the best possible outcomes for their pupils and staff.
London South East Academies Trust is on a journey of growth, with plans currently in progress to expand its network of schools in Surrey and also into East Sussex.
This includes an Associate Membership programme, in which Trusts and schools can partner with LSEAT for a limited time to explore the benefits of being part of its network. Support can be accessed in a range of areas including school improvement, leadership and corporate services.
The Federation of Manor Mead and Walton Leigh Schools in Surrey are the first to join the Trust as Associate Members. Manor Mead is a primary school located on sites in Shepperton and Virginia Water, and Walton Leigh a secondary school in Walton on Thames.
These two specialist schools, led by Executive Headteacher Mark Bryant, will be working with LSEAT and its schools over the coming academic year - with the view to potentially joining the Trust in the future.
