Belmont pupil Shines on EastEnders Set After Successful Audition
We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news about one of Belmonts pupils Olivia, who recently had a remarkable experience in the world of television.
After her dad spotted a casting call on Facebook for a child with visual impairment (VI) to audition for EastEnders, Olivia’s mum reached out to the production team. They were interested in Olivia’s background, and her mum was able to highlight Olivia’s previous onscreen experience including a memorable appearance on Good Morning Britain and even a special moment meeting Mo Farah.
Impressed by her experience and confidence on camera, the EastEnders team invited Olivia to audition. For her first audition, she recorded a short video talking about the foods she liked (and didn’t like!), showing off her fun, sassy personality.
Although they didn’t hear back immediately, Olivia was soon sent a script for a second audition this time for a character called Rosie. The audition involved acting out a scene at a vending machine, and once again, Olivia rose to the occasion with enthusiasm. Shortly after, the family received the amazing news that Olivia had been successful.
The day before filming, Olivia and her mum travelled to the EastEnders studios in Elstree for a costume fitting. She was even treated to a visit to the children’s green room, complete with toys and games.
Filming day was a special experience. A car picked Olivia up early in the morning, and upon arrival at the studio, she was welcomed by none other than the character Peter Beale who in the storyline has a child with VI needs. Olivia spent much of the day filming with him and other key cast members, including Lauren Branning and Kat Slater.
The experience left a lasting impression on both Olivia and the cast and crew. As they wrapped up, one crew member even told Olivia, “See you in Hollywood!”
Olivia’s mum has expressed to the production team that she would love for Olivia to be considered again if the storyline were ever expanded and we’re all keeping our fingers crossed.
We are so proud of Olivia for her confidence, talent, and wonderful representation of children with VI. She truly is a star in the making!
