LSEAT schools celebrate exam and progression success

Pupils at several London South East Academies Trust schools – Bromley Beacon Academy, Bromley Trust Academy, Horizons Academy and Endeavour Academy – are today celebrating their achievements, marking important steps towards their future lives and careers.

The academies, located in Bromley and Bexley, provide alternative and specialist provision for young people who can’t access mainstream school. Some have been excluded from school (or are at risk of exclusion) and have had a very disrupted education. A large number have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), facing many different barriers to learning.

However, despite these challenges, the schools’ Year 11 pupils are celebrating success, with every one of them (100%) now progressing into further education or an apprenticeship.

Supported by dedicated staff, pupils have achieved a wide range of qualifications, including GCSEs, BTECs, functional skills, Duke of Edinburgh, and many other vocational awards.

Highlights from across the schools include:
  • 100% of pupils at Endeavour Academy achieving the King’s Trust Award in Personal Development and Employability
  • 100% of pupils at Endeavour Academy gaining a Level 2 BTEC in Personal Growth and Wellbeing
  • 100% of pupils at Horizons made good or better than expected progress in English and 95% in Maths
  • 75% of Horizons students who studied BTEC home cooking achieved a Level 2 with the remainder achieving Level 1
  • At Bromley Trust Academy, 100% of pupils achieved qualifications in both English and Maths
  • Over 70% of Bromley Trust Academy pupils made expected or exceeded progress from baseline in English and maths
  • Bromley Trust Academy pupil achieved 12 qualifications, showcasing the breadth of the curriculum and support
  • Bromley Trust Academy pupil achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE Art and Textiles, a fantastic individual success

This hard work has now enabled pupils to move onto the next stage of their education journey and towards their career ambitions.

Neil Miller, Deputy CEO of London South East Academies Trust, said:
"We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements. For many, school has not been an easy journey, but today’s results show the power of perseverance and resilience.
“Progression is key for our young people and we are delighted to see every single pupil moving on to college courses, sixth form or apprenticeships Their success reflects their determination, as well as the commitment of our staff and families who have supported them throughout.
"Congratulations to every one of our pupils – we are really proud of them all and excited to see what they go on to achieve next."

Student success stories:
Niamh, a year 11 pupil at Horizons Academy achieved 12 qualifications, including grade 5s in her maths and English GCSEs. She is one of the school’s true success stories, having built up her confidence and trust in others to achieve so incredibly well. She has secured a place on a hair and beauty course in London and is also pursuing apprenticeship opportunities.

Katy Williams, Year 11 pupil at Bromley Trust Academy:
“If it wasn’t for the school, I wouldn’t have passed anything. They made sure I got to lessons, with support from teachers who’ve been there for me since day one. Now I’m really excited to be starting a Level 3 course in physical education activities for childhood, and to start playing for Charlton football club, I’m even hoping to get a scholarship to America in the future.”

Endeavour parents:
" My son would not have done so well at any other school. A huge thank you to all the teachers and staff. You've been brilliant"
"Thank you so much to all the staff at Endeavour Academy for taking the time to help and support my daughter throughout her 5 years at school. She's been really happy and come so far."

Parent of George, a Bromley Beacon Academy pupil who is now progressing into sixth form at the school:
"The school has been absolutely amazing with George. He’s had a difficult journey since primary school, but they’ve worked wonders with him – supporting him both inside and outside the classroom. He’s thrived in this environment and I’ve seen a massive change in him, not just at school but at home too. Considering how much time he’s missed since the start of secondary, his results are incredible. I honestly can’t thank the school enough."
