Barrington Primary School is praised by Ofsted for ‘helping pupils flourish’!
We are delighted that Barrington Primary School has been praised by Ofsted for its ambitious and caring approach - with pupils described as flourishing in both their academic achievement and personal development.
Inspectors confirmed that the school has maintained its high standards since its previous inspection, with a strong culture of wellbeing and belonging.
The report, published yesterday, states: “…staff know pupils well and care about them. This gives pupils a deep sense of belonging and helps them to feel safe.” Parents were also overwhelmingly positive, while children themselves were found to be respectful and proud of their school.
Academic outcomes at the end of Key Stage 2 were above national averages. Inspectors praised the broad and ambitious curriculum, as well as the quality of teaching: “…Teachers have strong knowledge. They use this to explain new information clearly.”
Early years provision was also singled out, with reading and maths taught well so that children “get off to a strong start to their education."
Inclusion was noted as being at the heart of Barrington’s success. The school’s Talking Base provision was described as “highly effective” in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), thanks to skilled staff and close work with external specialists.
Beyond the classroom, Ofsted recognised the many opportunities available to pupils. From leadership roles such as house captains and play leaders, to participation in school committees, children are encouraged to take responsibility and develop a sense of citizenship. A wide range of clubs and educational visits further help to expand their horizons.

We look forward to continuing to work in partnership to strengthen our provision even further.”
Dr Sam Parrett CBE, CEO of London South East Academies Trust, adds:
“Barrington is an excellent example of how schools within our Trust put pupils at the heart of every decision – and build a culture of genuine belonging.
